Job purpose

The Fabricator will play a key role in the maintenance team by fabricating, assembling, and repairing equipment and parts to support the efficient operation of the facility.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Perform various types of welds, including TIG welding, stick welding, and flux core welding, ensuring high-quality welds on different metals in diverse working conditions.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal parts and components for food manufacturing machinery.
  • Operate various tools and machinery, including cutting saws, welders, and grinders, to ensure precise and high-quality work.
  • Perform routine inspections of fabricated items and machinery to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and address equipment issues, proposing solutions for repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Document all work performed and ensure accurate record-keeping for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all fabricated parts meet required specifications and are completed within project timelines.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Skilled in TIG welding, stick welding, and flux core welding, with the ability to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components for food manufacturing machinery.
  • Experienced in operating cutting saws, welders, grinders, and other fabrication tools to ensure precise and high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with experience conducting routine inspections, maintaining a clean workspace, and ensuring fabricated parts meet required specifications.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working conditions

  • Work indoors.
  • May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens.
  • May work close to others, usually within a few feet.
  • Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.

Physical requirements

  • Standing involved.
  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel toed safety shoes/boots and beard nets.
  • Ability to bend or twist their body.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
