Job purpose
The service operator ensures all lines are fully stocked with the required packaging materials in a timely manner. In addition, he/she will wrap pallets of finished goods and apply finish goods labels.
Duties and Responsibilities
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Ensure the production line has the required packaging to run the scheduled products.
- Retrieve the packaging from the warehouse or staging area and bring it to the line.
- Remove all old packaging from the line, organize it on the pallet and return to the warehouse during changeover.
- Wrap finished pallets manually with the machine and apply labels as required.
- Bring empty pallets to the lines ensuring it is the correct type of pallet.
- Verify it is label is done correctly.
- Remove garbage and cardboard and food waste from the packing hall.
- General cleaning of the service area and assisting the changeovers and allergen cleans.
- Use of pump cart or power walkie (with training).
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working in a product packaging environment preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to safely perform heavy lifting and pulling on a continuous basis
- Must be a team player, have good organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision, and possess a safety-first approach to work.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including overtime and have dependable attendance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working conditions
- Work indoors.
- May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens.
- May work close to others, usually within a few feet.
- Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.
Physical requirements
- Standing involved.
- May repeat the same movement.
- Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel toed safety shoes/boots and beard nets.
- Ability to bend or twist their body.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
